About

Sarah Rea founded Critter Queen in spring of 2001.

Her love for animals is due to her big heart and Virgo ways; Virgos are renowned for their love of animals and earth. Sarah has experience with a wide variety of domestic animals and has over 10 years of professional pet sitting experience.

Any free time the queen has is spent reading, doing yoga, swimming, obsessing with the recycling, crafting and working as a the volunteer event coordinator at Good Fellas Rescue.

Sarah recently started Haughty Dog, which combines two of her passions: crafts and pit bull advocacy!  Selling handmade dog collar accessories, made from upcycled materials, 20% of sales are donated to local no-kill shelters and rescues.

Dan Itel has been assisting Sarah since 2009 and is the primary dog runner for Critter Queen.  Dan raised cattle during his high school years and has experience with a variety of domestic animals as well.  With his gentle, loving care of pets, Dan should be recognized as the Critter King!

Dan enjoys being the Portland Timbers beat writer, quality brews, running, politics and working on his novel.

Together, Dan and Sarah enjoy gardening, movie going, outdoor adventures and caring for PDX pets.
